Oh summer, where did thee go? As I write this I'm wrapped up in a blanket with my 10th cup of tea watching the never ending rain thrash down. This would be a novelty cosy day if it hadn't become routine over the last couple of weeks... Joy. However, that doesn't mean I'm quite ready to say arrivederci to summer just yet. I'm ever hopeful that as August has been so appalling September is suddenly going to appear bringing sunshine, bucket loads of Pimms, and impromptu pub gatherings... Come on Universe, do your thang.

So, if you're not quite ready to say hello to the orange hues of Autumn just yet then you're in luck as this post is written with you in mind. I bring you... Drum roll please... My best summer transitional buys. All pieces are slightly warmer (think longer sleeves and slightly thicker fabric), but all still have that gorgeous fresh summer look. And, most importantly, each piece can be layered meaning you get to enjoy wearing all of these beauties throughout September and October.

I absolutely love the feminine feel of the Topshop Ruched Floral Print Midi Shift Dress which I'd wear on sunny days with a pair of tanned sandals and MAISON MICHEL Virginie straw sun hat, but equally you could combine with the & Other Stories Trench Coat if the weather takes on a more Autumnal feel.

Also, could we all just take a moment to appreciate the gorgeousness that is this H&M Gingham Frilled Dress? This is THE dress for picnics in the countryside (yes, you may blend in with the picnic blanket) but would also look lovely with a pair of black tights, boots and a leather jacket when it's chilly.

The best summer transitional pieces for Autumn 2017

What do you think of these pieces? Are you looking forward to cosy knits and scarfs or are you still braving the weather with denim skirts and crop tops? I'm keeping everything crossed the sun returns ASAP!

Happy shopping!

Love, Becky x
